This ship was built as a cargo ship for Kawasaki Kisen and was assigned to the New York route, but with the outbreak of the Sino-Japanese War, it was requisitioned as a special seaplane tender and engaged in operations on the Chinese front. In the Pacific War, it was involved in the invasion of the Dutch East Indies and the Kiska Island evacuation operation. In May 1943, while on a transport mission, it was torpedoed by a US submarine and sunk. This kit is a 1/700 scale plastic model kit of the "Kamikawa Maru" converted into a special seaplane tender. With a parts configuration that focuses on the essentials, it is simple, easy to assemble, and accurately reproduces the ship.
