The second ship of the Fuso-class battleships, "Yamashiro," characterized by its unique large bridge, was completed in 1917 during World War I and participated in the Pacific War after several modernization refits. In the Battle of Leyte Gulf in 1944, it entered the Surigao Strait as part of Nishimura's fleet. It engaged the US fleet together with "Fuso" and was sunk.
