The S12 model, the fourth-generation Silvia and second-generation Gazelle, appeared in August 1983 as a complete model change from the previous S110 series. The styling continued the straight-line base of its predecessor, but in line with the trends of the time, it adopted flowing, smooth lines, full retractable headlights stored in a low, sharp hood, and full doors with a flush surface, giving it a fierce image like a fighter jet.
