SA22C Savanna RX-7 24 Hours of Daytona 1979
The Savanna RX-7 (SA22C) debuted in March 1978. Its striking style, featuring retractable headlights, quickly gained popularity, and its packaging, which took advantage of the small and lightweight characteristics of the rotary engine, resulted in a well-thought-out design as a sports car with a low center of gravity and enhanced maneuverability. In America, it attracted attention as a base car for motorsports, and from 1979 it participated in the IMSA series. In its debut race, the Daytona 24 Hours, it achieved a brilliant result, winning the GTU class and finishing 5th overall, instantly attracting the attention of American motorsports fans.
This kit reproduces the winning car, car number 7, driven by the Rotary Three Musketeers: Yoshimi Katayama, Takashi Tsunono, and Yojiro Terada.
