The Sturmgeschütz IV was an assault gun developed in Germany during World War II, with the official designation Sd.Kfz.167.
The Sturmgeschütz IV, which mounted the fighting compartment of the Sturmgeschütz III on the chassis of the Panzer IV tank, had inferior armor protection compared to the Panzer IV tank destroyer of the same period, but had better weight balance and superior mobility and maneuverability.
Production of this vehicle began in December 1943 and continued until April 1945, with approximately 1,100 units produced.
