■Product Description
The Hotel-class nuclear submarine was a ballistic missile submarine operated by the Soviet Navy and was the first type to be equipped with a nuclear power plant. There are three subtypes, from Type 1 to Type 3, and eight of these submarines entered service between 1960 and 1962. Developed as a successor to the conventionally propelled Golf-class submarine, the Hotel I had the drawback that it could not launch ballistic missiles unless it was surfaced. Therefore, in the 1960s, all of them were converted into Project No. 658M ships (Hotel II type) equipped with R-21 submarine-launched ballistic missiles that could be launched underwater.
