The Type F was the first of the Type III assault rifle series, produced from March to September 1942 with 359 guns. The car, equipped with 7.5 cm L43 guns from the Type E short gun to the long gun, was renumbered SD.Kfz. 142/1, and the last 31 guns produced with 7.5 cm L48 guns were upgraded.
