■Product Description
The Scharnhorst was the first ship of the Scharnhorst-class battleships of the German Navy, commissioned in January 1939. It was equipped with three triple turrets containing nine "Model 1934 28cm (54.5 caliber) guns."
In the German Navy, the main gun turrets were usually designated by radio code (phonetic code) from the bow: A turret (Anton), B turret (Bruno), C turret (Cesar), and D turret (Dora). The "Model 1934 28cm (54.5 caliber) gun" had the capability to fire heavy armor-piercing rounds weighing 315kg at a maximum elevation of 40 degrees up to 40,000m. It could penetrate the side armor of British battlecruisers of the Renown class at a range of 20,000m, and Queen Elizabeth-class and Revenge-class battleships at a range of 15,000m or less.
