We are pleased to announce a new product from Big Plane Kits, a Ukrainian manufacturer of injection-molded aircraft aircraft: the 1/72 P-8A Poseidon w/AN/APS-154 (AAS).
The AN/APS-154 (AAS) (AAS: Advanced Airborne Sensor) is a next-generation maritime surveillance and reconnaissance radar that succeeds the APS-149 LSRS (Coastal Surveillance Radar System) currently installed on some P-3C aircraft. It is a system that provides military commanders with highly accurate battlefield situation information. The system, mounted in a pod under the fuselage, consists of a bifacial active electronically scanned array radar, synthetic aperture radar, and inverse synthetic aperture radar, and can monitor, identify, and track multiple targets with radar data like the one in the picture in all weather conditions. It is also said to be able to track submarines while submerged. The kit reproduces the AN/APS-154 (AAS) pod with newly molded parts. It also includes etched parts, resin parts, painting mask stickers, and 5 types of Norwegian Army & 3 types of US Navy decals. When completed, the total length will be approximately 536mm and the total width will be approximately 497mm.
