■Product Description
Introducing a new product from Roden, Ukraine: the 1/144 E-3 Sentry Early Warning and Control Aircraft.
The kit includes five types of decals (3 NATO, 2 US Air Force). When completed, the aircraft will be approximately 324mm long and 308mm wide.
The E-3 is an early warning and control aircraft (AWACS) nicknamed Sentry, manufactured in the United States, with the first production model making its maiden flight in 1975. During the Vietnam War, the US military used the EC-121 for early warning, but as it became necessary to use the same aircraft for both early warning and command and control, consideration of a successor to the EC-121 began in 1963. In February 1972, the prototype EC-137 made its maiden flight, and the following month, flight tests were conducted with two types of radars, resulting in the adoption of the digital pulsed Doppler radar. The mass-production model was completed in 1976, and it entered service with the U.S. Air Force in 1977. The first aircraft was deployed to Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma, and two more were deployed to Kadena Air Base in Japan starting in May 1980.
