■Product Description
The T-34/122 (U-22 Self-Propelled Gun) was a fire support tank planned in the spring of 1942, based on the T-34 chassis and equipped with a new turret featuring a U-11 122mm howitzer. This vehicle was planned as a vehicle that strongly followed the lineage of artillery tanks before the outbreak of the German-Soviet war, but at the same time, the SU-122, based on the German StuG III and based on the T-34 with a gun mounted directly in the fighting compartment, was also being planned in parallel. Compared to the SU-122, which had a rational design and low production costs, the T-34/122 was deemed insufficient for effectively operating the gun because it could only accommodate two people in the turret, and the plan itself was canceled. Under the direction of the People's Commissariat of Tank Industry, the 8th and 183rd factories jointly drew and proposed two types: one with a hexagonal turret and another with a tower-type turret similar to that of the KV-2.
