The Fritz X is a glide-guided bomb developed by Germany.
It is also known as the Ruhrstahl or Kramer X-1. Launched from high altitude and accelerating to near-sonic speeds upon reaching its target, its destructive power was immense, inflicting heavy damage on two of Italy's latest battleships, as well as damage to the US light cruiser Savannah, transport ships, and the British battleship Warspite.
The BV 246 Hagelkorn was a glide-guided bomb developed in Germany during World War II.
It was dropped from an altitude of 7,000m, reaching a maximum descent speed of 900km/h, and had a maximum target radius of 210km.
This weapon was reintroduced in 1945 as a guided missile that used Allied radar transmitters as its target.
The Henschel Hs 293 was the world's first powered guided bomb and can be considered the ancestor of modern anti-ship missiles (air-to-ground missiles). A liquid rocket engine was mounted on the underside of a small aircraft, which was dropped from a mother ship and guided to its target by manual control via radio while visually observing it. Its combat record and participation in actual battles are often confused with Fritz X, and much remains a mystery.
