■Product Description
The E-60 was designed as a medium tank within the E-plan, which aimed to increase productivity by standardizing various components in the development of each tank, which had become extremely complex up to that point, and also to standardize tanks according to weight.
Although the E-plan tanks established a mass production system for the initial design in October 1943, the E-60 was a latecomer to the E-series because it was decided to repurpose the E-10's hull design for a medium tank, and it did not enter combat until 1945 or later.
The E-60's design was even more thorough in eliminating surplus equipment than the E-75/50, which is reflected in its almost flat, straight-line appearance with very few curves.
As a result, the manufacturing process was greatly reduced and mass production was dramatically improved, but due to it being the end of the war, the number of units produced was limited and insufficient to have an impact on the course of the war.
The tank destroyer of the E-60 series is this Kanonenjagdpanzer 1-5. Unlike the Jagdtiger and other tank destroyers, this vehicle was not a modified version of a damaged vehicle, but was planned from the outset as a tank destroyer for the E-60, making its hull design one of the most refined among German tank destroyers. The basic wheel configurations included a type with seven large wheels and a type with eight medium wheels (both doubled), and some of the medium-wheeled versions were equipped with upper wheels to reduce drive loss. The E-60 became a precursor to the so-called "main battle tank" of the postwar era.
