■Product Description
Introducing a new 1/144 scale aircraft kit from A-Model of Ukraine. Etched parts are included, and the cargo ramp at the rear of the fuselage can be displayed in the open/closed position, and the interior of the cargo compartment is also reproduced. The kit will be approximately 195mm in length and 221mm in wingspan when completed.
The An-72 is a twin-engine short take-off and landing jet transport aircraft developed by the Soviet Antonov Design Bureau (now ANTK Antonov of Ukraine). Its NATO code name is "Kolar," and in Russia, it is nicknamed "Cheburashka" because the engines look like big ears when viewed from the front. To improve STOL performance, the aircraft utilizes the Coanda effect by mounting the engines on the upper surface of the wings. The An-74TK-300, which made its first flight in 2001, was developed as a civilian transport aircraft, so operating costs and flight speed were prioritized over STOL capabilities, and the engines were mounted on pylons under the wings. Compared to the conventional "An-72," it is said that the speed has been increased by 40-50 km/h and fuel efficiency has been improved by 20%.
