■ Description
The Ca.101 was designed in 1927 as an expansion triplane for the high-wing single-bladed Ca97, and first flew in 1928. The engines, fitted with a nasal on the nose and both wing struts, were fitted with British, Italian pyrotechnic links, and alpha-roméo, as well as a combination of these. Originally designed as a passenger aircraft, the main aircraft had a large cylinder capacity and was quite heavy payload for this class at the time, so the Italian Air Force introduced it as a military transport and bomber.
