We are pleased to announce a new product from Czech company Fly: the 1/72 Caproni Ca.101 injection plastic kit. The Ca.101 was planned in 1927 as an enlarged, three-engine version of the Ca.97, a high-wing monoplane single-engine aircraft, and made its first flight in 1928. The engines, mounted in nacelles on the nose and wing struts, varied, including British-made Lynx, Italian-made Piaggio and Alfa Romeo engines, and combinations of these. Originally designed as a passenger aircraft, the aircraft had a large fuselage volume and a considerably large payload for an aircraft of its class at the time, so the Italian Air Force adopted it as a military transport and bomber. This aircraft played a central role in the bomber fleet during the Second Italo-Ethiopian War, which began in 1935. However, with the introduction of the SM.81, it was gradually retired from bomber missions, and with the availability of Ca133/148 aircraft, it was also retired from transport duties. A few of these aircraft were still in service in East Africa when Italy entered the war in 1940. The kit includes resin parts and three types of decals. Two types of air-cooled radial engines (3 each of 7-cylinder and 9-cylinder engines) are also included. When completed, the model will have a length of approximately 188mm and a wingspan of approximately 261mm.
