We are pleased to announce a new 1/72 scale Percival Miu Gull E.2H 1939 Cape Town Race Record-Breaking Full Resin Kit from SBS Models of Hungary. The Miu Gull was a racing aircraft developed and manufactured by Percival of the UK and was active in the 1930s. This small, single-engine, single-seat, low-wing monoplane with a wooden structure was one of the most famous aircraft, showing overwhelming strength in British air races until the outbreak of World War II. The prototype, which made its first flight in March 1934 and was equipped with a Napier Javelin engine, was named E.1, and later, the aircraft with a redesigned wing and fuselage and the engine replaced with a de Havilland Gypsy Six was redesignated as E.2. The product we are introducing here reproduces the E.2H with registration number G-AEXF, piloted by Alex Henshaw in the 1939 UK-South Africa Cape Town round-trip race. In this race, the outbound leg to Cape Town, covering approximately 10,263 km, took 39 hours and 25 minutes, and the return leg took 39 hours and 36 minutes. This record remained unbroken until 2009. The kit includes clear resin canopy parts, photo-etched parts, and one type of decal. When completed, the model will be approximately 86 mm in length and 109 mm in width. SBS Models' full resin kits prioritize ease of assembly, minimizing the number of parts while incorporating delicate details that are difficult to reproduce with injection molding. These kits were created with the modeler's perspective in mind.
