■Product Description
From LF Models of the Czech Republic, we are pleased to announce the dedicated painting mask decals for the new 1/72 Fokker D.XXIII prototype twin-engine fighter.
The Fokker D.XXIII was a Dutch fighter aircraft that made its first flight in 1939. With two 500 horsepower engines positioned at the front and rear of the fuselage, and a unique layout connecting the wings to the twin booms at the tail, this aircraft is thought to have been designed to take advantage of the air resistance and size of a single-engine aircraft despite being a twin-engine aircraft. To address the pilot escape issues that arise with the pusher-type layout, this aircraft was equipped with an ejection seat. Test flights recorded a top speed of over 500 km/h, but problems were found with the cooling of the rear engine and the mechanism for changing the propeller pitch. Only one prototype of this aircraft was built, but it was destroyed during the German invasion of the Netherlands in 1940, and development was halted when the Netherlands surrendered.
