■Product Description
We are pleased to announce a new product from Halberd Models, a Ukrainian manufacturer of resin aircraft kits and modification parts: the AM-1 Mauler full resin kit. The kit includes resin parts, 3D printed parts, photo-etched parts, and two types of decals. Please consider this opportunity.
The AM Mauler was a carrier-based attack aircraft developed by Martin Aircraft Corporation and operated by the United States Navy. In the early 1940s, Martin Aircraft Corporation produced the XBTM-1 prototype in response to the US Navy's request for a multi-role bomber development plan. A development contract was signed in 1944, and the aircraft made its first flight in August of the same year. Deployed to units as the AM-1 in 1948, this single-engine aircraft was capable of carrying a payload of 4,830 kg, the largest at the time. Pilots were impressed by its payload capacity and nicknamed it "Able Mabel," a play on the "AM" in its designation. However, because its deployment coincided with that of the Douglas A-1 Skyraider, all aircraft were assigned to the Navy Reserve when production ended and were retired in 1953.
