■Product Description
The Hopeless Diamond is a stealth aircraft proposed by Lockheed in the 1970s. At the time, DARPA (Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency) signed research contracts with five US aircraft manufacturers for stealth fighters, and Lockheed's development division, "Skunk Works," proposed an aircraft with an angular shape and composed of polyhedrons to reflect radar in only specific directions. Skunk Works believed that this diamond-shaped aircraft, specialized for stealth, could not be expected to have good flight capabilities, and gave the aircraft the pessimistic nickname of Hopeless Diamond. However, when the Have Blue, an evolution of this aircraft's design, was prototyped, further improvements were made from it, resulting in the F-117 Nighthawk, the world's first practical stealth fighter. The kit we are introducing here is a three-dimensional representation based on the concept of "What if the Hopeless Diamond really took to the skies?" The kit includes photo-etched parts, painting mask stickers, and one type of US Air Force decal.
