Announced at the 63rd All Japan Model & Hobby Show
We are pleased to announce the completely new mold 1/48 Type 22 of the A69 Carrier Bomber from Wingsey Kits. The Type 22 is an improved version of the A69 Carrier Bomber Type 11, and deployment to units began in 1943. This release is the first ever 1/48 scale injection kit of this aircraft. The kit includes photo-etched parts and four types of decals (1 each for aircraft from the aircraft carrier Junyo, aircraft from the aircraft carrier Shokaku, Usa Air Group, and 701st Air Group). Wingsey Kits products are superb, with delicately expressed panel lines and rivet marks on the aircraft surface, and the cockpit and engine are also meticulously expressed using photo-etched parts down to the smallest detail. This is a must-have item for Japanese aircraft fans and modelers.

The Type 99 Carrier Bomber was a Japanese Navy carrier-based dive bomber produced by Aichi Aircraft and active from the early to mid-stages of the Pacific War. The Model 22 was officially adopted in 1943 and was an improved version of the Model 11, with modifications such as replacing the engine with the Kinsei 54 and changing the shape of the engine cowl, adding a propeller spinner, extending the rear movable canopy to improve aerodynamic performance, and changing the structure of the swing arm and horizontal stabilizer. Although these modifications reduced range, they improved speed performance, climb rate, high-altitude performance, and bomb load capacity.
