■Product Description
This is the "NISMO R34GT-R Z-tune Prototype Tokyo Auto Salon 2001," a 1/43 scale handmade model car produced by "EIDOLON."
This model faithfully reproduces the "NISMO R34GT-R Z-tune Prototype" that was exhibited at the 2001 Tokyo Auto Salon.
【Vehicle Description】
The Skyline GT-R (BNR34) is currently the GT-R based on the Skyline, and as the last GT-R grade to be equipped with the inline-6 DOHC engine, a tradition since the first generation, it still enjoys high popularity and is not uncommon for it to be traded at several times the price of a new car.
The Skyline GT-R (BNR34) comes in various grades, with differences in suspension settings, engine tuning and parts changes using carefully selected materials (while sharing the same maximum output of 280 horsepower, the self-imposed limit), aerodynamic parts, and interior trim levels. Among these, the Z-tune stands out as a unique example. NISMO produced 19 of these complete cars to commemorate its 20th anniversary, based on high-quality used BNR34s.
The background to the creation of the Z-tune was the improvement of NISMO's brand image, specifically to win the "GT-R Tuners Battle" at the "NISMO Festival." As NISMO was Nissan's factory tuner at the time, it was developed with the aim of creating a high-quality machine that was fast and had excellent overall balance, similar to BMW's Alpina or Mercedes' AMG, and it achieved its goal by winning the "GT-R Tuners Battle."
The Z-tune prototype was unveiled at the Tokyo Auto Salon in 2001, and after further refinement as a road-going version, it was released in 2004 for 17.75 million yen to commemorate the 20th anniversary of NISMO's founding.
[Model Explanation]
We have already released the commercially available version of the Z-tune in EIDOLON 1/43, but this time we have chosen the prototype as the subject for our model. At first glance, the commercially available Z-tune and the Z-tune prototype give the impression of being quite similar, but in reality there are many differences, such as the presence or absence of the front bumper, front fenders, and rear fender lip.
For the production, we designed the prototype by overlaying the shaping data of the parts that are characteristic of the prototype onto our default body data of the standard car, which is a scaled-down version of the actual car's 3D scan data to 1/43. This ensures consistency in shaping with our other models, and also highlights the differences between each car.
The prototype and the production version have different bumper shapes, with the prototype fitted with the so-called "NISMO front bumper." It has square intake holes inside the turn signals, the lip is a separate part, and the intake shapes on both sides of the front of the bumper are also different. In addition, the front fenders, which are a characteristic of the production version and have openings near the base of the door mirrors, are not fitted to the prototype. The rear fender lip (overfender) is also not fitted to the prototype.
Furthermore, regarding the exterior, the prototype is adorned with graphics based on gray x black x red, so decals were applied, and then a clear coating paint was carefully applied over them and the surface was polished to a mirror finish.
The interior is equipped with RECARO bucket seats and a full harness with silver belts and NISMO logo patches, so these were also faithfully reproduced. The roll cage, which is a characteristic of the prototype, was also reproduced as a separate part.
The wheels are NISMO LM GT4 wheels. This model replaces the brass machined prototype with white metal cast parts, which are then painted black and finished with logo decals.
While there are many Z-tune miniature cars on the market, very few models accurately reproduce the prototype, so please consider purchasing our model.
