【Vehicle Description】
BUILT BY LEGENDS is a company that produces restomod vehicles based on famous Japanese cars from the 1990s. As the company name "Made by Legends" suggests, they collaborate with legendary tuners and release the ultimate restomods to the world with attention to every detail.
This BUILT BY LEGENDS Mine's Skyline GT-R (BNR32) is a collaboration between BUILT BY LEGENDS and Mine's, a pioneer in ROM tuning in Kanagawa, which has produced numerous legendary machines through its exquisite balance of weight reduction, engine tuning, and suspension tuning.
30 years have already passed since the end of production of the Skyline GT-R (BNR32). Therefore, the first step was a meticulous restoration of the base vehicle, carried out by Garage Yoshida in Nara. All parts were removed from the vehicle down to the last screw, leaving it in a completely bare chassis state. After removing rust and other contaminants, the vehicle was put through a 3D alignment tester to correct the body to the same condition as when it was new.
A 2.8-liter MB5 engine, assembled by Mine's using all of their past know-how, was mounted on this body. In addition to ROM tuning, it incorporates the latest technologies, such as R35 injectors and an airflow meter. HICAS has been cancelled, and the transmission remains a 5-speed, emphasizing a primitive feel. On the other hand, the suspension is a joint development between Mine's and DFV Ohlins, and the brakes feature Ferrari calipers and large-diameter slotted rotors.
The exterior, as is typical of Mine's vehicles, looks stock, but the hood (with NACA ducts), one-piece front bumper, and rear spoiler have all been changed to dry carbon fiber.
The seats respect the original shape, but are made of original Mount Fuji patterned velour fabric made by a fabric shop called "Myochu Pile," combined with Ultrasuede.
It has been upgraded with numerous original parts, including a small-diameter steering wheel made by Mine's (15mm smaller in diameter than the original), a shift knob and shift boot made by BUILT BY LEGENDS, and a parking lever boot.
【Model Description】
For this model, we used a method of overlaying the features of the BUILT BY LEGENDS Mine's Skyline GT-R (BNR32) onto the original body data of the Skyline GT-R (BNR32), which was designed based on 3D scan data of our actual car. Our other BNR32 model cars are also designed using the same method, which has the advantage of ensuring consistency when displayed together with them, while also clearly highlighting the differences.
In the case of the BUILT BY LEGENDS Mine's Skyline GT-R (BNR32), the dry carbon hood with NACA ducts is newly molded data. It also features the so-called N1 headlights with two rectangular halogen lamps, just like the actual car, and lightweight yet highly rigid 18-inch RAYS TE037 wheels.
The interior design itself does not differ significantly from the normal version, but the original Mt. Fuji patterned velour fabric is reproduced by applying decals.
The wheels are one-piece pieces, with the brass machined prototype replaced by white metal cast parts. The calipers and RDD 2-piece slotted rotors visible through the spokes are also precisely reproduced using etched parts.
