This is the "TRUST GReddy GR86 Turbo Tokyo Auto Salon 2023," a 1/43 scale handmade model car produced by "EIDOLON."
This model faithfully reproduces the "TRUST GReddy GR86 Turbo," which was built by the long-established tuning company "TRUST" as a time attack machine for Tsukuba Circuit, based on the "Toyota GR86."
【Vehicle Description】
In 2012, the Toyota 86 appeared as a joint development vehicle between Toyota and SUBARU. Then, in 2021, the second generation appeared, and as it became an exclusive vehicle for the GR brand, Toyota's motorsport/high-performance production car division, the car name was also changed to GR86.
In the model change, in addition to parts that met the demands of the times, such as strengthening the rigidity of the body and improving safety performance, the engine displacement was increased by approximately 400cc and torque was increased with the aim of improving response and flexibility in order to aim for a more enjoyable driving experience.
The GR86 is one of the few remaining FR layout sports cars, making it highly popular as a base for tuned/customized cars, and a wide variety of aftermarket parts are available.
The model chosen for this project is a demo car produced by Trust, a company founded in 1977 that took the motorsport world by storm in the 1980s with its top speed trials using tuned cars based on production vehicles, as well as its activities in Group C and Group A categories. This car was unveiled at the 2023 Tokyo Auto Salon, and features a turbocharged engine and massive overfenders on the exterior.
[Model Explanation]
In creating this model, we conducted 3D scans and thorough research of the actual car in-house, and then overlaid these onto 3D data provided by Toyota Motor Corporation to create proportions that are incredibly accurate to the real car. We have released many other GR86 variation models, but we maintain consistency across all models by sharing the basic body frame and only docking the custom parts and changes to the exterior in the data.
While the real car of the TRUST GReddy GR86 Turbo is known for its turbocharger, the model's main features are its voluminous overfenders, the carbon fiber under-aero parts fitted to the lower part of the body, and the wide tires set flush with the body.
All the carbon fiber parts are covered with carbon fiber pattern decals, and then a clear coating is applied over them to create a deep luster just like the real car. The orange, light blue, and navy blue stripes and small logos that are the identity of TRUST/GReddy are also covered with decals, and then a clear coating is applied over them and polished to a mirror finish.
The wheels are a reproduction of the RAYS Volk Racing TE37, just like the real car. The sharp original parts, which were machined from brass using a CNC lathe, have been replaced with white metal cast parts and fitted. Pay attention to the texture of the brakes visible through the spokes.
Another highlight is the stripped-down interior, with everything unnecessary for a single driver removed. This model is also modeled after scanning the actual car, so it faithfully reproduces the details of the real vehicle, from the unevenness of the exposed floor panel to the body frame and packaging tray revealed by removing the door trim.
While it's great to admire it on its own, the unique features of each GR86 are even more apparent when displayed alongside other variations. We hope you will add not only this TRUST GReddy GR86 Turbo to your collection, but also other GR86 models.
