The Chevy II was produced starting in 1961 as Chevrolet's new compact car. It adopted a 2800mm, 110-inch wheelbase, and in addition to the 2-door sedan, the lineup included a 2-door hardtop, convertible, 4-door sedan, and station wagon body, and the drivetrain was front-engine, rear-wheel drive.
The first generation model lasted until 1965, and in 1965, it became possible to choose a 5.4-liter V8 engine producing 300 horsepower, and it gained great popularity as a muscle car.
Its performance made it a popular base machine for street customs and drag racing, and in drag racing, many gasser-style vehicles with a raised front end were produced.
