Even after World War II, various support weapons for infantry were developed in countries around the world. One of the infantry support weapons developed by the Soviet army after the war was the DShKM heavy machine gun and the SPG-9 recoilless rifle. The DShKM was introduced in 1946 as a modified version with improvements to its ammunition feeding mechanism. It was used as a vehicle-mounted machine gun on tanks, mounted on tripods, and operated from vehicles such as trucks.
