About the Actual Car
The E46 model was the main machine that BMW, which boasts a glorious history in touring car racing, was active from the 1990s to the 2000s. Developed based on the fourth-generation BMW 3 Series that appeared in 1999, it was entrusted to many teams participating in touring car races around the world. While most touring car racing base vehicles were shifting to the front-engine, front-wheel-drive (FF) format, BMW stuck to the front-engine, rear-wheel-drive (FR) format. This earned it high trust from drivers and teams seeking different handling characteristics than FF. The BMW E46 of Carly Motors, which participated in the Dutch domestic touring car championship race, DTCC, from 1999 to 2003, won the championship in 2001 with Tom Coronel at the wheel.
