About the actual aircraft
The main fighter aircraft, the F-15J Eagle, is based on the US Air Force's F-15C, which began operational deployment in 1974, and has been equipped with unique equipment by the Japan Air Self-Defense Force. It is equipped with its own tactical electronic warfare system, J/TEWS, and also its own data link system. It began deployment to units in 1982 and still plays a main role in the air defense of Japan's skies. At air shows at bases that operate the F-15J, it is common to see aircraft with commemorative paint schemes produced and flown in demonstration flights. The F-15J of the 303rd Squadron that appeared at the air show held at Komatsu Air Base on October 5, 2025, was designed with the concept of "From Eagle to Lightning II" in conjunction with the start of F-35 deployment. The image of the F-35 painted on the F-15 fuselage, as well as an illustration combining lightning, a dragon, and 303 on the back of the fuselage, attracted a lot of attention.
About the Model
This model is a plastic model assembly kit based on Platz's 1/72 Japan Air Self-Defense Force F-15J Eagle, which has already garnered high praise from airplane model fans, and reproduces the commemorative painted aircraft of the 303rd Squadron that appeared at the Komatsu Air Base Air Show held in October 2025. The special illustration applied to the 303rd Squadron's F-15J that appeared at the Komatsu Air Base Air Show held on October 5th is represented by a large decal sheet. Timed to coincide with the deployment of the new F-35 Lightning II, the concept is "from Eagle to Lightning II," and the image of the Lightning II is painted on the aircraft, as well as the illustration on the back that combines the image of the Lightning II with a lightning bolt, a dragon, and the number 303, and the markings such as the letters painted on the fuel tank are reproduced with large decals made by Cartograf.
