About the actual aircraft
The T-2 is an advanced trainer aircraft that has trained many elite pilots of the Japan Air Self-Defense Force who protect the skies of Japan. It was the first supersonic aircraft independently developed in Japan. It made its maiden flight in 1971, entered service in 1974, and remained in active service until 2006. It was equipped with two TF40-IHI-801A turbofan engines manufactured by Ishikawajima-Harima Heavy Industries. It boasted a maximum speed of Mach 1.6. It was divided into an early model used for basic combat pilot training without armament and a later model used for subsequent combat pilot training, with the later model also equipped with machine guns. The T-2 played an active role in training elite pilots who protect Japan's skies. It is said that 1,450 pilots were trained using the T-2 before its retirement. It is a masterpiece aircraft that trained many pilots.

About the model
This is a 1/72 scale plastic model assembly kit that reproduces the Japan Air Self-Defense Force's T-2 advanced trainer aircraft. This kit includes four types of markings selected from special paint schemes that have been displayed at air shows held at various bases. It is a kit that will be fun to finish by choosing which one to use. The aircraft is modeled after the later model equipped with a Vulcan cannon. Every part of the aircraft is reproduced in detail, down to the panel lines, realistically capturing the sharp shape of the aircraft that boasted a Mach 1.6 speed. Of course, it's not just the exterior; even the fine details of the two-seat cockpit interior and landing gear parts are delicately modeled, giving the finished product a sense of realism. The notable markings include a special paint scheme created by the 22nd Squadron in 1998 to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the unit's founding, a special paint scheme of the 22nd Squadron displayed at the Matsushima Air Base Air Show in 1997, a display aircraft from the Gifu Air Development and Test Wing displayed at the Komaki Air Base Air Show in 1994, and markings from the 8th Squadron of the 3rd Air Wing at Misawa Air Base in 1987. Decals are made by Cartograf. Don't miss the four marking options to choose from.
