About the actual ship
The Arizona was the second ship of the Pennsylvania class of US Navy battleships, launched in 1915 and commissioned in 1916. Its standard displacement was 33,100 tons and its length was 185m. It was equipped with 12 35.6cm guns of 45 caliber as its main armament. During the attack by the Japanese task force on December 7, 1941, which ignited the Pacific War of World War II, the Arizona, which was anchored in the harbor, suffered heavy damage and sank. The Arizona was also attacked by Japanese Navy Type 97 carrier-based attack aircraft equipped with torpedoes, which inflicted fatal damage on the Arizona. The battleship Arizona remains in Pearl Harbor to this day.
About the model
This model is a 1/700 scale reproduction of the battleship USS Arizona BB-39 operated by the United States Navy. This kit also includes two Japanese Navy Type 97 carrier-based attack aircraft that torpedoed the Arizona during the Pearl Harbor attack. You can build both of the heroes of the Pearl Harbor attack that ignited the Pacific War in the same 1/700 scale.
The Arizona's lower hull parts are molded as one piece to accurately reproduce its shape. The shape of the propellers and rudder should not be overlooked. Each of the superstructure on the deck is also modeled in detail, resulting in a dense finish befitting a battleship. The main gun turret, equipped with a 14-inch gun, is reproduced using slide molding. The gun barrel is reproduced using slide molding, and in addition to plastic parts, photo-etched parts are also provided.
The Type 97 carrier attack aircraft is reproduced with torpedoes mounted on the underside of the fuselage. Since it is molded with transparent parts, the canopy is also realistically represented. This is a kit that allows you to build and enjoy the main players of the Pearl Harbor attack.
