About the actual aircraft
The EC-1 is an electronic warfare training aircraft developed based on the C-1 transport aircraft operated by the Japan Air Self-Defense Force. The domestically produced medium transport aircraft of the Japan Air Self-Defense Force, which began deployment in 1973, is based on the C-1 and equipped with electronic warfare equipment. It was manufactured in 1986 based on the 021st production model of the C-1. The aircraft is characterized by the large fairings that give it a platypus-like appearance and is equipped with electronic countermeasures (ECM) devices.Large antenna fairings are installed on the nose and rear of the fuselage, and two small antenna fairings are installed on each side of the fuselage to emit jamming signals. Only one unit was built and deployed to the Electronic Warfare Group of the Air Tactics Training Wing at Iruma Air Base of the Japan Air Self-Defense Force, where it played an active role.
About the Model
This model is a 1/144 scale resin assembly kit that reproduces the EC-1, an ECM training aircraft of which only one unit was deployed by the Japan Air Self-Defense Force.
Modified from the C-1, it accurately reproduces the aircraft's shape, which is equipped with a distinctive antenna fairing. In addition to the already familiar Platz C-1 resin kit, this kit includes parts that reproduce the nose, rear of the fuselage, and the large fairing attached to the sides of the fuselage using 3D printed parts, just like the actual aircraft.
In addition to the resin parts of the fuselage, the landing gear and other parts are made of metal, making it a multi-material kit. The use of different materials for each part achieves a delicate finish. Not only the shape, but also the panel lines of the fuselage are delicately expressed. This is a kit that airplane fans will definitely want to add to their collection.
