About the actual car
The second-generation Fiat 500 was a small, mass-produced car loved by the Italian people and nicknamed Nuova Cinquecento (New 500). It was produced from 1957 to 1975, undergoing several minor improvements, and it is said that the number of units produced reached 3,678,000. The design and engineering were handled by Dante Giacosa, known as an exceptional automotive engineer. With dimensions of 2,970mm x 1,320mm x 1,325mm (length x width x height), it is even smaller than a Japanese kei car, yet its rational packaging, with a 500cc air-cooled two-cylinder engine mounted in the rear, secures space for four people. It became a huge hit upon its debut and gained popularity not only in Italy but also in other countries. The Nuova Cinquecento is truly a great car that can be said to be a symbol of Italian automotive culture.
