●Gray paint markings reproduced in 1/48 scale
【About the actual aircraft】
The EA-18G Growler is an electronic warfare aircraft developed and operated by the United States Navy as a successor to the Grumman EA-6B Prowler. It was developed based on the United States Navy's fighter jet, the F/A-18F Super Hornet, and entered service in 2009. It has a crew of two: a pilot and a WSO (Weapons Systems Officer) in the rear seat. It is equipped with electronic warfare equipment including an AN/ALQ-99 Tactical Jamming System (TJS) pod, an AN/ALQ-218(V)2 radio frequency receiving system, and an AN/ALQ-227 communications countermeasures set. It is equipped with two General Electric F414-GE-400 turbofan engines. It can achieve a top speed close to Mach 1.8. Armed with this equipment, the Growler counters enemy air defense (SEAD) aircraft. The VAQ-131 Lancers, an electronic warfare unit of the US Navy deployed at Misawa Air Base in Japan, also operates the EA-18G Growler. The tail fin is painted with a mark featuring a cavalryman's mask and spear.
【About the product】
The kit is a 1/48 scale reproduction of the US Navy's current electronic warfare aircraft, the EA-18G Growler. It is a plastic model assembly kit with a finished length of 38.1cm. The impressive size accurately models the distinctive form. The parts are made by the long-established Italian manufacturer Italeri, and a Japanese instruction manual produced by Platz is included. This is a kit that Japanese modelers can tackle with confidence. Furthermore, masking stickers that are convenient for painting the canopy frame are included as standard equipment. The large tandem cockpit canopy makes it easy to paint neatly, which enhances the overall appearance of the finished product. The markings are selected for the VAQ-131 Lancers deployed at Misawa Air Base in Japan. This model reproduces the low-visibility markings painted in shades of gray from 2020.
