■Product Description
In the late 1990s, the F-14 gained night attack and targeting capabilities with the installation of LANTIRN pods. Replacing conventional missiles, it was equipped with smart bombs under the fuselage, evolving into an attack aircraft. In the Afghan War that broke out in 2001, under the harsh conditions of having no nearby airfields of friendly nations, it carried out its mission by utilizing its long range and flexible operational capabilities. Its excellent low-altitude performance and large payload capacity thanks to its variable geometry wings (VG wings) allowed it to play a role as a high-precision bomber, giving it a spectacular finale to its combat record.
This kit reproduces the markings of VF-154 (commonly known as the Black Knights) immediately after its return to Japan from Afghanistan in 2003. Although it returned to the United States after a short period due to the introduction of the F/A-18F, its appearance remains in the memories of many fans as "the last F-14 seen in Japan." The bomb racks under the fuselage have been added as new parts.
