■Product Description
The first and second prototypes of the "Type 12 Carrier Fighter," the Zero Fighter, are most notably equipped with the Mitsubishi "Zuisei Engine" instead of the "Sakae Engine" that would later become the heart of the Zero Fighter, and feature a two-bladed propeller.
Furthermore, there are numerous details that set it apart from the Zero Fighter after its official adoption. A slightly shorter fuselage, a unique cowling shape, a forward-sloping antenna mast, a different vertical stabilizer contour, a fin mounted on the lower rear of the fuselage, and a horizontal stabilizer with a protruding mass balance are just some of the details that make it a prototype with a distinct appearance.
This kit meticulously reproduces the details of each part that differ from the Zero Fighter, based on the specifications of the Type 12 Carrier Fighter "No. 2." When displayed alongside the Zero Fighter, a visual comparison that shows the differences in the development process can be seen at a glance. The fuselage, wings, engine, and propeller are molded in gray, the landing gear in black, and the interior of the aircraft in yellow-green.
