■Product Description
From Modelsbit's sub-brand, A&A Models, we present the completely new mold 1/72 XB-1 "Baby Boom" supersonic demonstrator. The kit includes painting mask stickers, photo-etched parts, and two types of Cartograf decals (markings for the first flight and the first supersonic flight). When completed, the aircraft will be approximately 292mm in length and 89mm in wingspan.
The XB-1 is a 1/3 scale three-engine jet supersonic demonstrator designed in the United States as part of the development of the Boom Overture supersonic transport aircraft. Planned to maintain Mach 2.2 over a range of more than 1,900km, the XB-1 is constructed of lightweight composite materials, with materials for high-temperature components such as the nose cone supplied by the same high-temperature materials supplier as the Falcon 9 rocket. Equipped with three afterburner-equipped J-85 turbojet engines, the aircraft made its maiden flight in March 2024 and has since conducted 11 manned test flights. After successfully completing its first supersonic flight in January 2025, it performed its second supersonic flight in February of the same year before retiring. The test program was considered a great success, as it was confirmed that the Mach cutoff phenomenon did not produce audible sonic booms on the ground during the supersonic flights during testing.
