About the actual car
The Renault 4 (Quatre) was developed by Renault to compete with its rival, the Citro?n 2CV, which was gaining popularity as a mass-market car. It was unveiled at the 1961 Paris Motor Show. It was Renault's first car to adopt a front-engine, front-wheel-drive (FF) system. It demonstrated high practicality with its four-wheel independent suspension, removable front and rear bench seats, and a two-box hatchback body style with a large top-hinged tailgate that allowed for carrying a lot of luggage. Initially equipped with a 750cc engine, it was a popular basic model for Renault. It was sold from 1961 to 1992. It was constantly improved and more than 8 million units were sold over 31 years.
