The German self-propelled grenade guns, which began development in 1987 and began deployment in 1998, are the Panzerhauwitzze 2000 and the PzH2000. The main guns are equipped with linear metal 52 caliber 155 mm L52 guns over 8 m in length. In addition to having an advanced automatic loading system powered by electricity, multiple sensors and computers fitted to the gun tower control the selection and loading of targeted ammunition. Some components of the Leopard tank are used on the front with MTU's MT881 V8 cylinder turbocharged diesel engine.
