The first-generation Countach debuted in 1974 as Lamborghini's second mid-engine (engine mounted in the center of the vehicle) sports car, following the Miura. Its thin, flat, linear form, unlike anything seen in automobiles before, and the overwhelming performance provided by its 12-cylinder engine caused a huge sensation around the world. This sensation spread to Japan as well, and by the late 1970s it had sparked a supercar boom among boys. The LPI-800 is a modern version of the second-generation Countach, limited to 112 units to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Countach's birth (the prototype was unveiled in 1971). The mechanism is inherited from the Sián FKP 37, Lamborghini's first hybrid car, and is fitted with a body shell inspired by the first generation. Hot Wheels has reproduced the car's sharp styling in a miniature size. The blue metallic finish is also refreshing, which is rare among the standard white, red, and yellow second-generation Countach miniature cars.
