The Nissan Fairlady Z debuted in 1969 as the successor to the open two-seater Datsun Fairlady. Developed primarily for the American market, the sixth generation is currently on sale. The sixth generation appeared in 2008, but in 2020 a major facelift version was released with a refreshed exterior, engine downsizing, and a complete redesign of about 80% of the body. Since then, it has become common to call the pre-facelift type the Z34 and the post-facelift type the RZ34. Hot Wheels has based its design on the RZ34, featuring an exterior reminiscent of the first generation released in 1969.
