■Product Description
Announced at the 63rd All Japan Model & Hobby Show
We are pleased to present the 1/72 Short SB.6 Seamu, a completely new mold from Sword of the Czech Republic. The Seamu is a British prototype carrier-based anti-submarine patrol aircraft that made its first flight in 1953. This aircraft is a single-engine aircraft equipped with an Armstrong Siddeley Mamba turboprop engine. The cockpit is positioned as far forward as possible in the nose to ensure visibility, and the anti-submarine radar is mounted directly below the nose. Due to this layout, the landing gear could not be stored under the nose, so a tailwheel type landing gear was adopted, and the main/tail landing gear became fixed to simplify the airframe structure and reduce weight. For carrier-based missions, the main wings could be folded from a position outside the main landing gear. In addition to torpedoes and depth charges carried in a bomb bay located inside the fuselage, rockets and small bombs could be mounted on the wing pylons. Developed as a lightweight and inexpensive aircraft, only 19 units were produced because the RNVR (Naval Volunteer Reserve), to which it was intended, was disbanded due to defense budget cuts. The kit includes painting mask stickers and two types of decals. When completed, the aircraft will be approximately 174mm in length and 233mm in wingspan. Sword's kits feature finely molded panel lines and excellent detail. The included decals are also of very high quality with vibrant colors.
