■Product Description
We are pleased to present three 1/72 scale K11W Shiragiku kits from Czech Republic's KP Models, featuring completely new molds. The Shiragiku was an airborne operations training aircraft developed and manufactured by Kyushu Aircraft and used by the Imperial Japanese Navy. This aircraft was officially adopted in 1942 and used until the end of the war, with some being used as kamikaze planes in the final stages of the war. The kit includes 3D printed Tenpu 21 air-cooled 9-cylinder engine parts, two types of canopy parts (early and late models x 1 each), two types of landing gear parts, painting mask stickers, and four types of decals. When completed, the aircraft will be approximately 139mm in length and 208mm in wingspan.
The Shiragiku was an airborne operations training aircraft developed and manufactured by Kyushu Aircraft, with the aircraft designation K11W. In 1941, the Navy instructed Watanabe Iron Works (later Kyushu Aircraft) to develop a successor to the Type 90 Aircraft for Onboard Operations Training, and the first prototype was completed in 1942. Mass production began in 1943 as the prototype Shiragiku (K11W1), and after the prototype Shiragiku Kai (K11W2) was developed, both the prototype Shiragiku and the prototype Shiragiku Kai were officially adopted in 1944. With its good stability and handling, spacious cabin, and versatility, this aircraft was used not only as an onboard operations training aircraft but also for short-range transport, liaison, and anti-submarine patrol missions. When the order to form special attack units was given in 1945, the Shiragiku was deployed as a special attack aircraft in the Battle of Okinawa. Of the 798 Shiragiku manufactured, more than 370 remained at the end of the war, and some were used for Green Cross Flight.
