About the actual car
The Porsche 911 RSR Turbo was developed by Porsche for the 1974 World Sportscar Championship. It was developed based on the 911 Carrera RSR 3.0, which was prepared as a Group 3 machine for the same 1994 season. The engine was a SOHC air-cooled horizontally opposed 6-cylinder with a displacement scaled down to 2142cc and equipped with one KKK turbocharger. It adopted a displacement that was classified as a prototype Group 5 with a turbo coefficient of 1.4, which is less than 3 liters. Its power generated 500 horsepower, and to transmit that power to the road, it was equipped with wide, large-diameter rear tires. The rear fenders flared out significantly to cover the tires, and a huge rear wing was attached, creating an impressive body style. The machine debuted at the Monza 1000km in April 1974, where it finished 5th, then 3rd at the Spa 1000km, and 6th at the N?rburgring 1000km, before finally arriving at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Two cars were entered, one retired due to engine trouble, but the other showed an impressive performance, briefly leading the race, and brilliantly finished in 2nd place.
About the model
This model is a 1/24 scale plastic model assembly kit that reproduces the Porsche 911 Carrera RSR Turbo, a prototype sports car developed by Porsche in 1974.
The finished length is 20cm. The impressive body style with overfenders and a large rear wing is realistically modeled with the reproduction of subtle curves. The familiar Martini stripes adorning the body are, of course, provided as decals. The set includes car number 22, which came in second place at the 1974 24 Hours of Le Mans. The rear of the car features a single turbocharger, which is rendered with great detail using a minimal number of parts, giving the rear view a sharp look. The cockpit also recreates the spartan atmosphere with its seats and dashboard. The kit has a limited number of parts, making it easy to assemble. The 911 RSR Turbo, a machine that can be said to be the progenitor of the subsequent success of Porsche turbos, is a car you shouldn't miss.
