This is a 1/48 scale plastic model assembly kit that reproduces the British Spitfire Mk.IX, a masterpiece of World War II.
About the actual aircraft
Among the world's fighter planes that played an active role in World War II, the Spitfire fighter of the Royal Air Force is known as a masterpiece. The aircraft's most distinctive feature is its elliptical wing design, which allowed it to exhibit excellent flight performance. The first aircraft made its maiden flight in 1936. It entered service in 1938. Since the first mass-produced Mk.I appeared in 1939, improvements have been made and many types have been produced. Among them, the Mk.IX was deployed to units in 1942. It was equipped with a two-stage, two-speed supercharged Merlin 60 series engine. Combined with a four-blade propeller, it achieved a top speed of 650 km/h. Each Spitfire aircraft played a leading role in the Royal Air Force from the Battle of Britain in the early stages of the war until the end of the war. It produced many ace pilots who set a record for the most kills in aerial combat.
