The L refers to the Leggero class of light tanks. At the request of the military who were dissatisfied with the performance of the L3 light tank, in 1939 a prototype of a 5t light tank was built, based on the third car, and a two-stroke Blade, an M6 medium tank with part of the M38 8mm artillery turret.
