■ Description
The Challenger 3 is an upgraded main battle tank of the Challenger 2 being developed in the UK. With a new type of gun tower equipped with a 120mm L55A1 glider cannon in the upgraded body, and a lot of cutting-edge technology put in, the Challenger 3 is a "major upgraded vehicle" that is not just an extension of the life of the Challenger 2. Although the plans for the development of the 148 Challenger 2 to be upgraded and renamed the Challenger 3 were officially decided in 2021, delays and planning stagnation concerns also arose, in 2025 the Challenger 3 completed its mechanical tests to run approximately 800 kilometres across various terrains in the UK, and in June 2026 it was first shown to the public at the TANKFEST 2026 event at the Bobbinton Tank Museum.
