■Product Description
We are pleased to announce that we will begin handling V-Hobby products. The first releases will be two 1/700 scale models: the USS Missouri and the USS South Dakota. Each will be released simultaneously in "Standard Edition," "Deluxe Edition," and "Platinum Edition."
The USS South Dakota was a US Navy battleship and the lead ship of the South Dakota-class battleships. Equipped with three triple 45-caliber 40.6cm gun turrets, it was capable of sailing at a speed of 27 knots, comparable to the Yamato-class battleships of the same generation. Completed in March 1942, it participated in the Battle of the Santa Cruz Islands in October of the same year and the Third Battle of the Solomon Islands in mid-November. Although it was damaged by bombing during the Battle of the Philippine Sea in June 1944, it participated in the Battle of Leyte Gulf from October onwards, the Battle of Iwo Jima in February 1945, and the Battle of Okinawa from March onwards. The USS South Dakota received 13 battle stars for these achievements. The kit includes an injection-molded plastic body, with the "Standard Edition" including decals and photo-etched parts, and the "Deluxe Edition" and "Platinum Edition" (this product) including detail-up parts (the "Deluxe Edition" and "Platinum Edition" differ in the number of photo-etched parts, metal parts, and whether or not masking is included). This is a superb kit that recreates the appearance of South Dakota during World War II as a waterline model with delicate detail.
