The Heinkel He111, which was secretly developed as a civilian high-speed twin-engine transport aircraft, had its prototype He111a produced in 1935. After that, the bomber version He111A series was developed as originally intended, but due to insufficient engine power, it was not feasible to put it into practical use. Therefore, the He111B series equipped with a 1,000 horsepower class engine was mass-produced on a large scale and deployed in combat. The He111P series featured a redesigned nose section to reduce air resistance, followed by the He111H series, which had the largest production run in the series.
