Rheinmetall completed the basic drawings for the Panther II turret in March 1944.
This turret is smaller and based on straight lines compared to previous models, and the gun shield is a Saukobuch to deal with shot traps.
Another major feature is that the top of the turret is sloped because it is equipped with a stereoscopic rangefinder.
