■ Description
The Little Mermaid was a regional squadron, designed on the basis of its predecessor, the D.E. Squadron, and 11 ships were built of the same type. It was designed to reduce shipping costs for the bulk of the local squadron, while controlling anti-submarine missiles and low frequency bow.・It had a powerful anti-submarine armament, such as sonar, adjustable depth sonar, VDS, and was the smallest escort ship equipped with an ASLOC.
The structure of the ship's bridge is large because of the concentration of combat zones, such as combat command posts, CICs, sonar rooms, and anti-submarine command rooms.
The first was commissioned on July 31, 1971, and was assigned to the Saitama Prefecture along with the other ships of the same type. Then, in April 1996, the ships were decommissioned and in July 1997, all ships of the same type were decommissioned by 2003.
