■Product Description
The Buckley-class destroyer escort was a small destroyer operated by the United States Navy from 1943. It was mainly engaged in anti-submarine missions such as convoy escort and reconnaissance patrol. Turboelectric propulsion was adopted to compensate for the shortage of diesel engines, and 154 ships were built, the most of any destroyer escort in the United States. Of these, 102 were operated by the United States Navy, 46 were delivered to the British Royal Navy, and 6 were operated as fast transport ships (APDs).
